Fees

# Costs in writing, including travel.

You will have a costs agreement before substantial work is done. If a lawyer has to travel from Noosa, that cost is disclosed rather than buried.

Criminal, family and domestic-violence files have different cost shapes. A mention is not a trial. An interim parenting day is not a property settlement. We estimate against the actual next step, not against a slogan.

## Travel

Townsville, Mackay and Brisbane appearances are costed in the agreement. Video is used where it is proper, because it is cheaper than a wasted trip and faster than waiting for the next northern run.

## Legal Aid and JustFund

Legal Aid is a matter of eligibility and a grant, not a promise on a website. JustFund has been used on some family-law files where it still fits. Ask on the first call if you need either path. Nothing on this page is a quote. [Contact](https://www.bjhlaw.com.au/contact/).
